Mindful Monday | Begin your Journey

Mindfulness starts with an inhale, yes it’s just that simple. Controlling and recognizing your breath is the first part of any routine from working out, to yoga down to meditation; controlled breathing equals better results.

When you are present in the moment you are mindful. Some say “be in the moment”; mindfulness is the practice of being in all moments. To smell the trees while your walking, hear the birds and feel the breeze; be present. That means no phone, no social media, no negative thoughts, no self doubt.

Ways to be mindful

  • Listen and observe
  • Muscle relaxation – slowly relaxing each muscle, feeling the relief
  • Focus on one task aka stay present – washing dishes is a good practice for mindfulness. Feel the dishes, soap and water, try not to get distracted, think positive thoughts, try not to get off track with what’s going on outside or at work; focus on the now.
